This position handles the daily operational functions within the Item Processing department. This includes importing and balancing files throughout the day, assisting branches with scanning and balancing for Proof of Deposit (POD), data entry, processing of inclearing and outgoing return items, error adjustments, foreign check processing, and providing support to various business units including document imaging, checkback and dormant account processing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Download and import files from various sources into POD system; verify files are in balance.
  • Assist branches with balancing their scanned items and reset/delete batches in Branch Capture as needed.
  • Debit/Credit accounts help to create cash letters, and ensure funds are received from correspondent bank.
  • Research and process non-conforming images (NCI).  Create Image Replacement Documents (IRD)
  • Provide support, direction and training to internal departments as needed.
  • Handle request to pull/print notices including deposit corrections
  • Monitor and manage Mobile and Remote Deposit Capture files
  • Complete research for transaction/scanning discrepancies
  • Process Incoming and Outgoing Returns
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customer and bank information
  • Ability to complete all assigned task in accordance with bank policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities, which may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work independently, accurately and maintain good customer relations with the ability to adapt to varying customer and transactional volume.  Must be able to quickly re-establish priorities, responding to the changing needs of the department.
  • Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude; has proficient product & services knowledge to support internal & external customers. Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills to effectively work with all levels of management and team members.
  • Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Working Knowledge of Reg E and Reg CC Guidelines and proficient knowledge of Banking Terminology.
  • Ability to operate standard office and bank equipment and required software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with minimal noise, temperature variation or dust. Length of workday is unpredictable, depending upon volume of business and department activities.
  • Manual dexterity skills for typing and use of computer and other related office systems and equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required.
  • Occasional bending, reaching and stooping.
  • Constant visual effort is required.  Up to 100% of the workday is spent at a computer monitor and/or with written or computer-generated paper documents.
  • Frequent sitting is required.

Training and Preparation

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in banking or balancing is preferred.
  • Six to twelve months of on-the-job training to become familiar with departmental policies and procedures.
