Stay Safe From Scams

Do you know what to watch out for in emails, phone calls and text messages to detect scams? Here are some quick tips to help you stay safe online:

Email Scams

  • Avoid clicking suspicious links.
  • Be aware of high-pressure language.
  • Know that misspellings and poor grammar are red flags.

Phone Call Scams

  • Be wary of a false sense of urgency.
  • Know that banks will never ask for a password, PIN or one-time login code when talking to you on the phone.
  • Note that caller ID can be spoofed. If you believe a phone call is a scam, hang up and call a trusted number.

Text Scams

  • Slow down before you act on messages that seem urgent.
  • Don't click on links.
  • Never send personal information such as your PIN, password or a one-time login code.

Staying Safe on Social Media

Social media is becoming more popular and new platforms are on the rise. Be sure to know how to keep yourself safe while still being social!

  • Be careful what personal information you share.
  • Check your settings regularly to ensure you know what data is being collected.
  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) whenever possible.
  • Have long, strong and unique passwords.
  • Be careful about who you follow and who you let follow you.
