Pay People

Pay People makes it easy to send money to friends and family right from inside Exchange OnLine and the NEBAT personal banking mobile app. No extra apps to download. No new accounts to set up. Just a straightforward, person-to-person (P2P) payment solution.

Built for Everyday convenience

Pay People keeps things simple. Whether you’re sharing a bill, sending a gift or helping someone out, payments are quick to send and easy to receive. If the recipient’s bank participates in our network, funds often arrive within minutes! If not, they’ll receive a secure message with instructions to claim the funds.

To get started, all you need is a NEBAT CheckCard, access to Exchange OnLine and the recipient's mobile phone number or email address. There’s no extra app to install and no separate account to create, just a straightforward way to move money when life calls for it.

Try It Now

Designed with Security in Mind

Because Pay People is part of Exchange OnLine, your information stays in a trusted space, not in a third-party payment app. Additionally, you can keep you funds in a trusted, FDIC Insured bank account.

To help protect your account, limits do apply.

How It works

  • Pay People FAQs

Who can I send money to?

For your safety and security, only send money to people you know and trust. You can send money to friends and family throughout the United States with a valid email address or mobile number, even if they don’t bank with us.

Do I need to know the account number of the person I am sending money to?

No. All you need is the person’s email or phone number.

Why is the link missing from the SMS text for me to send?

Sending money using the web-based version of Exchange OnLine only allows users to send via email . Although it may give you an option to send to a mobile number when using a small screen-size, like a smartphone, the link to claim funds is not produced. Please download the mobile app to send funds to a mobile number.

How quickly will the money arrive?

Delivery is often near‑instant when the recipient’s bank is “on-network.” If it is “off-network,” the recipient will follow a simple process to claim the funds securely.

Why did I receive an “exceeds limits” error?

Transfer limits are in place to help protect your account. To inquire about specific limits, contact us during business hours to speak to a customer service representative.

Is there a fee to use Pay People?

No. Pay People is included at no additional cost for our online banking customers.

Is this similar to other person‑to‑person (P2P) payment apps?

Yes, like Zelle®, Venmo or PayPal, Pay People serves the same purpose, but it keeps everything inside our secure online banking product.  That means fewer logins, fewer apps, less exposure to scams or spoofed messages, and funds backed by FDIC insurance.

What happens if the recipient doesn’t claim the money?

Unclaimed payments will be placed back in your account if not claimed within 72 hours.

Can I cancel a payment after I send it?

Canceling a payment is not always possible. Be sure you are sending funds to a person you know and trust, and verify you are using the correct email or phone number before hitting “send.”

What does On-Network and Off-Network mean?

On-Network means the recipients phone or email are associated with a debit card that is linked to the Pay People network. The funds are instantly transferred. No notifications are sent unless the users have alerts turned on for their debit card.

Off-Network transfers are made with debit cards not in same network as Pay People. The recipient will receive an email or text notification and will have to follow a link to claim the funds.

Why can’t my recipient claim their funds?

When you send a payment, the recipient enters their debit card to have the funds transferred to their bank account. A small percentage of debit card issuers cannot accept payment.  If the person you are trying to pay tries using a card that does not work, they will receive a message that says “Oh no… this card was not accepted at this time…” You can resend payment for them to claim funds using a different debit card.

Where can I find confirmed transactions of money sent via Pay People?

When logged into Exchange OnLine or the mobile app, navigate to the Pay People page from the “Transfer & Pay” menu and select the 3-dot menu in the upper right of the “Send Money” banner to display your Pay People transaction history.

How do I resend the link and payment information to a friend or family member so they can receive the money?

If the funds have not been claimed, you can find the link and payment information by going to “Pay People” through the “Transfer & Pay” menu, selecting the 3-dot menu in the upper right and then selecting the Transaction to see more details.
