It’s more important than ever to have the learning tools necessary to educate children, teens and adults on effective money management - it is important to build a solid foundation of financial literacy for future success. To help, we’ve compiled a list of free online personal finance courses and lesson plans to guide you in the right direction when it comes to money management.

Access Free Online Personal Finance Courses

To ensure the next generations are prepared for their financial futures, National Exchange Bank & Trust has suggested some free online personal finance courses and personal finance lesson plans for teachers and parents. These tools have been created by various organizations and meet national content standards for use in the classroom:

Building Your Future: This financial literacy program is a four-part series that takes high school students through a hands-on experience of all phases of proper money management.
FoolProofMe: This curriculum for teachers and parents is highly interactive and teaches youth about money, financial responsibility, and the free enterprise system. There is also a homeschool module.
High School Financial Planning: This plan-driven program guides students through financial planning and how to apply successful, financial decisions to their own lives.
MoneySkill: This free online personal finance course is designed for teachers to help teach students about income, expenses, saving and investing, credit, and insurance through modules and built-in quizzes.
Money Smart for Young People: This series consists of age-appropriate curriculum and personal finance lesson plans to help students in grades K-12 in addition to parents and teachers be money smart.
NextGen Personal Finance: This program’s mission is to revolutionize the teaching of personal finance to improve the financial lives of the next generation of Americans and is designed for middle and high school teachers.
Practical Money Skills: This set of 22 lessons promotes financial learning through collaboration, real-world connections, and communication tools for all ages and has resources for both students and teachers.
Take Charge Today: This program takes a decision-based approach to personal finance and thinking through financial choices to improve well-being; it has resources for teachers teaching grades 7 - 12.
Youth Financial Education: This program shares tools and resources to teach youth the journey of financial well-being.
Money as You Grow: This resource, designed for parents, provides valuable insights on teaching children how to manage their money and invest for the future.
