National Exchange Bank & Trust is pleased to announce the recipients of the National Exchange Bank 2021 scholarships offered to the children of its employees. Students were judged on financial need, academic achievement, school involvement, work experience, community and volunteer involvement and a personal statement.

The scholarship funds, administered by the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, are awarded to the sons and daughter of active National Exchange Bank & Trust employees. Renewable scholarships are available for $3,000 per year for a baccalaureate degree and $2,000 per year for a technical college degree. This year’s recipients are:

Madalyn Gilgenbach

Madalyn GilgenbachMadalyn Gilgenbach is the daughter of Todd Gilgenbach, a Compliance Specialist at the Fond du Lac office located on West Johnson Street. Gilgenbach plans to attend UW-Stevens Point where she will major in Human Resources. She was active throughout high school as a member of Fondy High Key Club, Ignition Mentoring, Students Working as Teachers, Future Business Leaders of America and student council. Gilgenbach was also active in the community as a part of United Youth, Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis and National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).

Emma Guelig

Emma GueligEmma Guelig is the daughter of Tim Guelig, Maintenance Supervisor at the Fond du Lac office located on South Main Street, and step-daughter of Kristin Guelig, a Junior Underwriter at the Fond du Lac office located on West Johnson Street. Guelig will continue to attend Marquette University where she is majoring in Biomedical Sciences. She is a member of a Peer Mentor Health Program, the Pre-Dental Organization and club tennis. She is active in the community volunteering for Midnight Run, Aurora Sinai in Milwaukee, and Hops for Heart.

Carlee Holz

Carlee HolzCarlee Holz is the daughter of Steve Holz, SVP of Lending at the Fond du Lac office located on South Main Street. Holz plans to attend UW-Madison to major in Marketing. She was active in high school as a part of tennis, Ignition Mentoring, Key Club, Students Working as Teachers and student council. Throughout her high school career, she earned academic excellence awards and was awarded a FOX 11 Best of the Class 2021 for Fond du Lac High School.

Grace LaBatte

Grace LaBatteGrace LaBatte is the daughter of Lisa LaBatte, a Customer Service Representative at the Brownsville office. LaBatte will continue her education at UW-Green Bay where she is majoring in Democracy and Justice with an emphasis in Legal Studies. She is active in the community as a part of the Worship Team at her church. Additionally, LaBatte works as a Barista at Blue Door Coffee Co. in Campbellsport.

Halie Maier

Halie MaierHalie Maier is the daughter of Susie Maier, a Customer Service Representative at the Montello office. Maier will continue earning her degrees in Animal Science and Agribusiness from UW-Platteville. She is active in school as a part of Block & Bridal, Portage FFA Alumni, treasurer of Sigma Alpha – the Professional Women’s Ag. Sorority, and treasurer of Rotaract – a community service organization. Through Rotaract, Maier has enjoyed participating in the campus clean-up, Adopt-A-Trail and Plarn Nights.

Nicolas Veldhorst

Nicolas VeldhorstNicolas Veldhorst is the son of Jan Veldhorst, a Customer Service Representative at the Cedar Grove office. Veldhorst will be continuing his education at Dordt University in Iowa. He is majoring in Business Administration and Psychology with a minor in Economics. Veldhorst is active in school as a member of both the cross country and track & field teams where he has earned NAIA All-Academic awards. In addition, he is a part of Defender Capital Management and Dordt Business Club.

Braylon Wiese

Braylon WieseBraylon Wiese is the son of Nicole Wiese, SVP of Operations at the Fond du Lac office located on South Main Street. Braylon will be a first-year student at UW-Platteville where he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. He was active in high school as a part of volleyball, jazz band, marching band, Math Team and rock climbing. In the community, Braylon participated in Teen Court and Youth in Government, volunteered for the Salvation Army Summer Bagged Lunch Program and served as a lector and usher at his church.
